Jon grew up on a farm in Hull, IA where he participated in a variety of different sports – ultimately focusing mainly on wrestling. He wrestled in college for two years before moving on due to ongoing back injuries. Jon got his start with CrossFit while working out with some friends during the summer breaks in college. He and his buddies would look up random workouts and try them in the high school weight room. They found it to be a great way to train throughout the summer and stay competitive with each other. After being out of wrestling for a few months, Jon found his way back to CrossFit and joined the gym in Brookings, SD, where he was going to school. He was soon hooked and decided to take his L1 and begin training. When he had a chance to do an internship as part of his Exercise Science degree at South Dakota State Univ., Jon contacted CrossFit Kinesis. After he completed our coaching internship, Jon has earned his way onto one of the best staffs in the business and worked his way into a full-time coordinator position.
Jon’s professional certifications and experience include: CrossFit Level 1, ACSM certified exercise physiologist, and CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer. Before Kinesis, Jon has previously coached and programmed for high school athletes’ summer strength and conditioning programs. He was also a coach at CrossFit Brookings before moving to Omaha.
I CROSSFIT BECAUSE: I love fitness and training. CrossFit is a way for me to push myself to new limits and stay competitive. It is awesome being able to see and track progress over time.
I COACH BECAUSE: I love seeing people overcome obstacles and do things they never thought they could achieve. Helping people reach their goals and feel that sense of accomplishment is very rewarding as a coach.
